Teaching Jobs for Education Majors and Certified Teachers

Please be advised: The information on this page pertains to people with education majors and teaching certificates/licenses. It does not pertain to people with ESL certificates (i.e. TESOL, TEFL, CELTA).

Qualified teachers with education majors or legitimate teaching licenses will have a number of options to select from within Koreas lucrative job market. Gone2Korea has more than 100 openings annually at recognized schools that are specifically interested in qualified teachers. Most of these positions are at high end private schools; however, we do have opportunities available at international schools once in a while. We also have access to more than 800 public school positions each semester.

Salaries for education majors & certified teachers

Qualified teachers can expect to make somewhere between 2.3 – 2.7 million won/month in the private job market. Salaries will vary

Education Major
based on a number of factors: Previous teaching experience, previous ESL teaching experience, the location of the school and related duties and obligations. Likewise, qualified teachers can expect to make between 2.0 and 2.6 million won/month in the public job market. Note: Teachers in the public school system are exempt from paying income tax during their first 2 years of employment (Canadians & Irish excluded).

Working locations for qualified teachers

If you are interested in maximizing your monthly salary then you will need to consider Seoul as an option. Seoul tends to have the bulk of high paying teaching jobs in addition to the large majority of high end private schools. We do have good teaching jobs available in other cities around the country but most of these schools are no able to match the monthly wages offered by schools in Seoul.

University & College teaching jobs in Korea

We regret to say that we rarely have college and university jobs available. These types of jobs are highly competitive, quite limited and in many cases these institutions use in-house recruiters that require face to face interviews. If you’re serious about securing a college or university teaching role then you’ll probably need to do some networking with people in Korea.

Important Note: The job market in Korea continues to evolve. In recent years, due to the global economy and other contributing factors, there have been more people applying then the total number of jobs available. As a result it’s no longer possible to accommodate every single education major and certified teacher with the highest salaries in the country simply because the number of vacancies versus the number interested candidates doesn't match up. Either way, you can rest assured that our staff will do our best to find you the highest paying jobs available.
