Google Analytics: Google Analytics is the website tool we use to track – anonymously – how people use our site and consume our content. PII is the information we collect that can be used to identify you personally. PII information is only collected from you on a voluntary basis when you submit an online application form (sensitive information), or communicate with us through live chat or email (basic information).
The sensitive information you offer (including your name, current address, criminal history, resume and photo) on the application form is necessary for employment screening purposes, to determine your eligibility for teaching jobs and work visas, and to present you to Korean schools and employers as a job candidate.
i. Name and Address: So we know where to forward hardcopies of documentation during the job and visa application process.
ii. Contact Information: So we know where and how to contact you.
iii. Nationality / Education Level / Age: So we know what types of jobs and work visas you qualify for.
iv. Resume & Photo: Necessary for presenting you to Korean schools and employers as a job candidate. Offering a photo is not mandatory, however, Korean employers generally request a photo and resume of the applicant.
v. Criminal Record History: To determine if you will qualify for a Korean work visa. Due to strict work visa restrictions with the Korean Immigration office, candidates with charges or arrests on their criminal record check are not eligible for E2 work visas (English teaching visas).
During the job and visa application process, you will need to request and submit documents to and from government offices in your home country and South Korea. Documentation will include a criminal record check, notarizations, apostille authentications and visa application forms. As your recruiter and consultant, Gone2Korea is here to provide guidance and instruction for these necessary steps, however, we are not responsible or liable for the way government agencies handle, process and retain your personal information.
Certain PII information you offer is shared with Korean schools and employers (Clients) for job application purposes. The information we share with clients includes your name, nationality, resume and contact details (when applicable) for employer consideration purposes. Your photo and cover letter may also be shared with clients if you provide them. We do NOT share the sensitive information you enter on the application form with clients or any other third party. That information is only used internally to determine what kinds of teaching jobs and work visas you are eligible for. If we need to share your information with other parties (Korean embassy, consulate, immigration office, or other) for job or visa related matters, we will get your consent first.
We may also share your information if we’re legally required to do so by law.
We take numerous steps to ensure your personal information is protected. The sensitive information you provide on the online application form is transmitted through a secure link with SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption. This information is NOT downloaded and stored offline on internal servers or in the cloud. All application form information is securely saved in an encrypted and password protected online database with Siteground. The database also has technological safeguards such as security software and firewalls to prevent hacking or unauthorized access.
Please Note: The separate documents you attach to your application form when applying (your resume, photo and cover letter) are saved to our Dropbox account for internal use.
Non-Qualified Candidates: Application information and materials from candidates who do not qualify for teaching jobs or work visas (based on Korean Immigration requirements) will be deleted from our database within 3 months of the application submission date. We temporarily retain the information so we can use it as a reference if we are in communications with you.
Candidates who secured employment with one of our clients: We retain your application information for 5 years after your employment contract has expired with your respective employer in Korea. However, we keep basic employment records indefinitely. This basic information includes your name, contact details, the employer/school you worked for in Korea and your contract start and finish date.
Candidates who do not secure employment with one of our clients: We retain your information for 3 years after our last communications with you. You may ask us to permanently delete your application and any application materials you submitted by submitting a request to us at email@example.com
Under the Data Protection Act 1998, and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018, you are entitled to the following requests: Request a copy of your personal information, to have any inaccuracies corrected, to have all or part of your personal data erased, to place restrictions on how we process your data, to object or withdraw your consent to processing of your data.
Asking us to erase your information or place restrictions on the way we use your information will affect the services we are able to offer you.
